Finally, the wait is over, Ford F-150 Lightning has made it to the world, and arrived as a potent rival to Tesla Cybertruck, the newest Hummer EV, upcoming Rivian R1T, Lordstone Endurance and Bollinger B2. Yes, the electric pickup segment is going to grow super-quick and will be crowded real soon. After the Mustang Mach-E moniker, this will be Ford’s second electric vehicle. The Ford F-150 Lightning was first boarded by President Joe Biden who hinted at various aspects of performance. But now that the America’s all-new electric pickup has been completely unveiled let’s go through the spec sheet. The Ford F-150 Lightning and its electric powertrain produces 563-hp and a whooping 775 lb-ft of peak torque. These electric horses would assist the F-150 Lightning in sprinting from deadstop to 60-mph in approx 4.5-seconds, making it quicker than the Mustang Mach-E.

Talking about the range, the standard range battery has enough electrons to power the motors for 230-miles while the extended range upgrades the range to 300-mile. The powertrain setup includes an electric motor on each axle that powers the Ford F-150 Lightning to tow 5,000 lbs with standard battery. The buyers looking for more electric muscle by ordering an optional package increasing the towing capacity to 7,700 lbs. But the ultimate package Ford F-150 Lightning is capable of towing 10,000 pounds with the extended range battery. Though we are pretty sure that the towing would affect the range by a lot.

Coming to feeding the batteries with electric charge, then with the base SR can be plugged into either a 120-volt, 12-amp household outlet or a more serious 240-volt, 32-amp socket. The former adds 3-miles of range per hour, while the 240 V socket adds 21-miles per hour. There’s an optional 48-amp charger that enables the owner to recharge the Ford F-150 Lightning from 15% to 100% in 10 hours. The fastest charging capability would be accompanied by 150kW charger that will fully-recharged the F-150 Lightning electric pickup from 15% to 80% in 41 minutes.

Firemost, the Ford F-150 Lightning comes with a very practical frunk, or the front-trunk. This lockable boot in the front of the electric pickup is 14.1 cu-ft of space. One can easily fit upto 400-pounds of cargo, and just like the Mach-E, the F-150 Lightning’s frunk is water resistant, to store various stuffs, there’s a drain hole too. The buyers can utilize four electrical outlets, two USB ports installed in the frunk for power supply.

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning comes with a massive portrait-oriented, 15.5-inch touchscreen with a Mach-E-style on-screen physical volume knob. Because, why not? When Tesla can use a gigantic screen, why not Ford.

Besides, the Ford F-150 Lightning can become a mobile generation, thanks to a total of 11 power outlets throughout, providing up to 9.6 kilowatts of portable electricity compared to the PowerBoost’s maximum of 7.2 kW. So you can camp with your electric Ford F-150 and power accessories too.

For now, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will comes exclusively in the SuperCrew configuration offering 5-seat capacity, a 5.5-foot bed,  a powered front trunk, and four trim levels: base, XLT, Lariat, and the flagship Platinum. Ford is also working on three and four-motor variant to rival the Hummer EV. The unbelievable price tag of around $40,000 is jaw-dropping, especially for an electric Ford F-150 Lightning which is no less in terms of capabilities in comparison to ICE F-150 pickup sibling. The Ford has already registered more than 20,000 bookings and will be limiting the production for the first year.
