With the electric cars on the rise, the grunt and roar of the engines are being missed. But these trade are sometimes more exciting when you are getting instant torque, straight from 0rpms, setting you back in your seat. But which one’s an ultimate saloon/GT amongst the latest 2022 Audi RS e-Tron GT, 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo and 2021 Tesla Model S Performance. Let’s head to Mat Watson from Carwow which drag races these cars to find out.
On the left corner, the 2022 Audi RS e-Tron GT, the most powerful Audi to-date. This aggressive looking GT fits a two-electric motor setup, one motor on each axle. Together the setup boasts a 646-hp and 830Nm and the all-wheel-drive powertrain holds insane grip to the ground under launch control conditions. Right in the middle, the 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo, the sister car to RS e-Tron GT is identical under the skin, yet slightly more powerful. The same two-motor electric setup produces 687-hp and 850 Nm of torque. Both these German electric GT features two-speed gearbox that gives low down performance and decent high speed performance as well. On the farthest right side, the familiar 2021 Tesla Model S Performance produces 778-hp and 1,140 Nm of torque from a dual motor setup and all-wheel-drive configuration.
Now, the most important question, who take’s the win??
In the first launch Mat Watson takes the leads in his 2022 Audi RS e-Tron GT, while both the other electric cars aren’t far behind. The first round goes to the Audi. And like always, Mat gets busy pulling Yannie’s leg, his drag race companion. In the second run, Audi takes the lead again, while Yannie and the Porsche rank the last. All these three cars for the third run, owing to Tesla driver’s excuse of wet track and tires slipping. And in the third run, hunch taken by the Tesla, it wins the race.
